Who was really at fault for Romeo and Juliet's death?

Romeo and Juliet's tragedy can be pinned on lots of factors, including strong forces pushing them apart, as well as a series of unfortunate events. One person that can be pinned for Romeo and Juliet's death however, is Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence obviously cared a lot about these two kids and wanted them to be happy, but in turn made so many more devistated. Although Juliet was the one who went along with the high risk idea of faking her own death, Friar Laurence was the one who pitched it. Instead of trying to cheer up Juliet or come up with a solution that was good with everybody, like trying to stop this family feud, he dicided to fake Juliet's death. While trying to solve the family feud that has been going on for generations might seem like a tall ask, Friar Laurence proved he was willing to go to these lengths by faking Juliet's death. He should have provided Juliet with options instead of just telling her what to do. He has to have realised the strong influence he has on these young children's minds, and that they have a high amount of respect and trust in him. Friar Laurence should have known that Juliet would not be able to reject his idea because of his heavy influence on her. This extreme soution along with all its risks of misunderstanding the situation, Friar laurence ultimately was the cause of Romeo and Juliet's death.

Fate vs. free will

The majority of the group decided that Romeo and Juliet were affected by both fate and free will. One argument was that free will was the choices that people made, and that fate were exterior things that affected the decision and outcome. Another topic that was brought up was that people's free will could causee the fate of other people, and that fate wasn't a linear thing, but each person had their own fate, that could interfere with other people's fate, or it was planned by fate all along.

Relationships-parents

This group talked about relationships that teenagers have with their parents, and how responsible parents should be held for the actions of their children. When talking about Juliet, the group decided that the parents should be heavily to blame for her actions, considering they are some of the only people Juliet has been around her whole life.

Relationships-love

This group talked about if teenager's can understand or feel true love. There was a lot of debate over this topic on whether children are too underdeveloped and inexperienced to understand it, being argued by the concept that the idea of love is so abstract that one single defintion cannot exist.

Should people be allowed to show just the good parts of a relationship, which could potentially harm people who don’t know what a relationship should be?

How responsible should parents be for children’s actions? Juliet was raised isolated just by her parents, so her decision to fake her death has to be at least partly a result of the parent’s actions.

If someone is forced to commit a crime against their own free will, how responsible should they be held?
